What is it? The site is one of the oldest Espresso bars and original Italian social clubs in Melbourne. Italian migrants played Bocce from 1956-1977 at the site.
Inspired by travels to Northern Italy (Marostica, Bassano Del Grappa): Craft beers, authentic Spritz, cocktails and Italian style bar food. Travels to NYC have inspired the bar’s design to create a personable experience between staff and customers.
Who’s behind it? First time bar owner and Thornbury local, Louise Zelencich has thirteen years’ experience managing venues in Melbourne and London. Last venue was the Gertrude Hotel, Fitzroy. Architecture/Design-Taryn Joyce from Joyce Architects.
Size? Casual seating (inside and beer garden). Large outdoor space that can seat up to 50pax with standing room. Inside seat 40pax plus standing area.
What’s on the Menu? Italian style bar food with charcuterie and cheese tasting plates. Signature dishes are the Porchetta Pizza and Toastie with Salsa Rosa. Moor’s Head Pizza also available.
