What is it? Specialty coffee, pastries and lunch in the Melbourne CBD.
Who’s behind it? This is the 2nd store after Black Velvet Espresso by Darren and Jackie Silverman. This store also owned by former manager of BVE, Matthew Easterbrook.
Size? Predominantly standing room although there is some seating available for 11 people. Designed by Studio Esteta and built by Twig and Co.
What’s on the Menu? Freshly baked pastries and croissants from Noisette, homemade toasted muesli cups with yoghurt and berries, and other breakfast items. Lunch bags are available to be pre ordered from their ‘Black Velvet Tuck Shop’. Orders can be placed via text message or by placing money into a paper bag in store. Lunch is collected in a brown paper bag and includes a fresh filled baguette, sweet slice or cookie and coffee. Customers nominate a lunch choice and pick up time.
Black Velvet Coffee is also operating a prepaid coffee and consumer rewards program where customers earn points to redeem items like hand grinders or an Aeropress.
