What is it? American Asian fusion style street eats served off the newest food truck in Melbourne.

Who? Owner and resident chef, Jayda, comes from a family full of chefs. Gorilla Grill is the brainchild of his lifelong dream of running his own kitchen. Following travels around North America and experiencing the wonders of the American food truck scene, Jayda’s food vision was cemented. Gorilla Grill aims to bring diversity to street food that is synonymous to those in America into the heart of Melbourne.

What’s on the Menu? Jayda’s seasonal menu brings together the authentic flavours of Asia combined with the modern American street food scene to create a uniquely fun food experience. Think fall off the bone bbq pork ribs (a resident favourite), Korean inspired tacos, deep-fried crispy chicken ribs, and the ever-popular kimchi fries.

What is it? Cafe in South Yarra serving breakfast and lunch all day. Small batch coffee. All good is made fresh on the spot – i.e. no pre made sandwiches

Who’s behind it? Eitam Brami (chef/owner) and Tomer Gian (barista/owner) both over 10 years hospitality experience in Melbourne and in Israel. Most commonly known for their first venture Einstein’s 251 in Caulfield.

Size? Roughly 35 seats – including inside, outside and lobby.

What’s on the menu? Breakfast and lunch is served all day. Food has a middle eastern touch such as baked beans with dukkah poached eggs. Signature dishes include the Reuben sandwich, Acai wake up bowl, Nobel prize winner (warm haloumi mushroom salad in a teriyaki sauce) and the chicken toasted.

Bookings? No. They do however have the lobby area available for bigger groups.

Who’s behind it? The elusive Señor Churro

Size? 2.4 x 2.4m trailer

What’s on the Menu? Specialising in the most popular street foods in Argentina – Choripan & Churros. Try the ‘El Tano’Choripan. A whole chorizo, grilled & butterflied, provolone cheese, rocket, roasted capsicum, mayo and handmade, traditional Chimichurri sauce, all stacked onto a toasty roll. The Churros are a must. The most popular being the Dulce de Leche filled Churros.

When? New owners took over May 12, 2014

What is it? The new owners of Kyneton’s Royal George Hotel are set to transform and revitalise the iconic hotel to focus on craft beer and casual dining.

 Who’s behind it? Chris Taylor and Lucinda Brown have impressive plans for the grand old dame. Both Chris and Lucinda are passionate about craft beer and cider and are members of Melbourne Brewer’s Club. Chris is also an awarded home brewer and has a BJCP qualification for judging craft beer.

What’s on the Menu? Food – The dining room will focus on incorporating beer and hops in the cooking and offer modern Australian cuisine along with casual shared plate dining. The beer: In coming weeks a wall of taps will be installed in the main bar which will feature 16 craft beers and ciders that will rotate on a regular basis. A monthly craft beer club will be established to educate interested home brewers and beer drinkers and the pair will invite experts to discuss different grains, hops and flavours of the featured brews.

Size? 500 capacity, Designed by Anna Carosa, who designed all of the other venues under the Retail Savvy Group.

What’s on the Menu? Classic Australian menu items with traditional bush salts and spices, featuring modern and exciting twists-think parmas breaded with Cornflakes, meat pies and pulled meat boards.

Rebecca is currently restoring the adjoining building as her studio and exhibition space. The 115 year old garage has been adorned by street artist Scottie Neoh in respect of the aboriginal name for Tallarook, meaning “call of the wattlebird”.

What’s on the menu? Serving the best coffee, breaky, lunch and homemade cakes in the region. We have the fortune of using Australia’s champion coffee “Carousel” by Reverence. Winner of the AICA “best milk-based coffee” at the awards announced at MICE last week!

What’s on the Menu? Contemporary Spanish/Mexican fusion. Mexican has evolved and nothing is pure Mexican anymore. A la carte is dead and people want a variety to share and that’s what they will provide. High class all the way – they use black angus for their mince.
