Butter & Beans at OUGButter & Beans at OUG

When?  The first Butter & Beans outlet at Section 17 has been operational for more than a year. Now comes their latest outlet in Taman OUG opened last month on August 16, 2014.

What is it? Butter + Beans is a cosy community café serving coffee roasted from exquisite beans and buttery pastries made from Lescure butter. The concept behind Butter & Beans is to bring the experience of coffee closer to the community and to provide a cosy atmosphere that is easy to blend in.


Who’s behind it? Butter & Beans is owned by food personalities partners Jenifer Kuah & Alex Anthony.

Size? Butter & Beans at Seventeen accommodates 15 pax. Butter & Beans at OUG more than doubles this at 34 pax.

What’s on the Menu? Coffee based drinks such as ristretto, macchiato, latte, flat white, cappuccino and Americano. Food offerings include Danish pastries, croissants, salmon quiche, turkey ham quiche, orchid raspberry cake, lavender cherry cake, cinnamon roll and salted caramel mille crepes – all made in house. Further setting themselves from the pack – sunflower seed bread, muesli bread, brioche can all be purchased in loaves and taken home to eat at your leisure.

Hyde speakeasy damasara utamaHYDE at 53M – Speakeasy Bar

When? September 9, 2014What is it? Artisanal cocktails, wine bar, speakeasy.Who’s behind it? Andrew & Caroline (Who are also the founders of The Good Batch Cafe & Bar which is conveniently located at the Ground floor). Andrew has a strong background in the hospitality industry, being manager at various F&B outlets and was even a bartender during his younger days, whilst Caroline was previously a flight attendant for Singapore Airlines, her strength is in the service sector and she also has garnered experiences in marketing and management.Size? Designed by Caroline & Andrew themselves with inspirations from around the world, HYDE exudes a very old-school classic vibe that reminds us of the Great Gatsby days. They’ve taken a risky route of currently ensuring it is a no-smoking indoors policy (seats about 40), while smokers can enjoy the seating at their outdoor balcony (seats approx 25-30). There’s also a private/secret room at the end of the room that can sit up to 10 people comfortably.What’s on the Menu?  Bi-weekly selection of cocktails (the classics and some re-engineered) and if you’re siting by the bar, you can make a personal request to the head bartender (who is conveniently Mr Andrew himself) and have a special concoction made to suit your taste buds. There’s also an amazing selection of liquors and wines. Andrew even has a variety of house made syrups and fresh fruits that are dehydrated on a daily basis.

Light snacks are also available such as truffle fries with a garlic aioli dip, seafood sui gao with a homemade chili dip and spiced lamb sausage with potatoes.

BisqueLogo(1) Bisque cakes

What is it? Classy, chic and fully customizable; Bisque is an online, made-to-order cake connoisseur. Their selection of tasty gourmet treats offer classic comfort topped off with a healthy dose of TLC.

Who’s behind it? Bisque is currently co-owned by Juliana Omar and her younger brother Hakim Omar, together with a Creative Team of talented young Food-preneurs and experienced bakers.

What’s on the Menu? You can opt for a 7inch or 9inch cake, mix and match your toppings from the list of available “additionals” and have it delivered to your doorstep or picked up at their location in Damansara Perdana, P.J.

Bisque Classic Cakes varies from traditional Royal Red Velvet and famous Australian Lamingtons, to the rich French Valrhona Chocolate Couture or the more unique flavors such as Maverick Mint, or if you are a true dessert fan, add the Valrhona Chocolate Brownies on any of their cakes for a mountain of joy.

Bookings? Orders are made via website 3-4 days in advance, as all Bisque cakes are freshly made to order.
