Working from cafes in Kuala Lumpur, you find yourself trying to find a new one every few days so that you don’t set up camp at one table for 8 hours. Don’t get me wrong, they’re more than happy to let you do this – but it’s always good when you discover a diamond in the rough to add to your coffee hit list.
Bangsar’s Regal Valley Auto Specialist Centre is the location of a little known cafe in KL’s suburb of Bangsar. Of course it’s aimed at the customers from the garage next door but Monkey Garage certainly can hold it’s own and go toe to toe with the big coffee players in the area. It’s a unique environment for lovers of cars, art and great coffee.
Monkey Garage has been inspired by the owner’s travels to Zurich where she found a Swiss cafe that she fell in love with. I’m all about the street food at the moment so I generally just stock to a few coffees rather then attempt the western style food most cafes have. I’m sure that will change in time but right now it’s all about trying national dishes at every chance I get. The coffees were a house blend and my flat white had a pleasant bit in the mouth.
