We’ve been fans of The Lido Cafe in Herne Hill since we first stumbled in there for a much needed brunch to cure a hangover. We’ve since been back for a pop up with Tem Ban Thai – who was *THAT GOOD* that he instantly became our favourite Thai restaurant in London (check it out here). Photo’s I’ve used here were taken when I visited her King and Co. Residency recently.
The award-winning independent restaurant The Lido Cafe will continue its exciting series of stunning poolside popup dinners with a new kitchen collaboration with Fowl Mouths, launching on Thursday 7th April.
Fresh from her record-breaking pub residency at The King & Co in Clapham, rising star Melissa Thompson is extending her tour of South London’s top popup spots and bringing her popular Japanese comfort food to the acclaimed community dining space in Herne Hill. Renowned for serving up delicious and surprising flavour combinations with a soulful hearty style, Fowl Mouths’ new evening popup partnership with The Lido Cafe will provide guests the chance to enjoy a diverse cuisine in a truly unique setting.
Diners visiting the new poolside popup at The Lido Cafe on Thursday and Friday evenings during April can enjoy a mouth-watering menu showcasing Fowl Mouths’ favourites such as irresistible Teriyaki Chilli Wings and tender Ponzu Steak marinated in citrus-seasoned soy sauce, alongside brand new Japanese-inspired delights ranging from vibrant Grilled English Asparagus with Yuzu Hollandaise to delicate Hake and Clams with Shiso Brown Butter and Udon Noodles.
Those wishing to end their meal on a sweet note can take their pick from Melissa’s intense signature Chocolate Sesame Ball with Matcha Ice Cream or a creamy and soothing homemade Cherry Sencha Panna Cotta. Authentic Hakutsuru Plum Wine will be available to accompany Fowl Mouths’ Japanese comfort food, plus exclusive cocktails connected by The Lido Cafe’s skilled bar team and their carefully curated selection of local craft beers and fine wines.
The Lido Cafe’s new series of night-time kitchen collaborations with talented London popup chefs and streetfood traders (including Thai sensation Tem Ban and well-respected South Indian social enterprise Papi’s Pickles) follows on from the huge success of the poolside restaurant’s recently-introduced expanded all-day brunch menu. Frequently featured in hotlists of London’s best brunch venues, The Lido Cafe’s new daytime offering allows visitors the chance to tuck into the team’s award-winning contemporary twist on British breakfast classics as well as refreshing smoothies and cool Mary cocktails throughout the day in a glorious sunny setting.
The Info: The Lido Cafe’s new poolside popup dinners by Fowl Mouths will start on Thursday 7th April at 6pm, and then continue on Thursday and Friday evenings throughout the month (Thursday 14th – Friday 29th April).
