Where do I seek out Pickering’s Gin?
Summerhall Distillery is housed on the site of an old animal hospital. Part of a veterinary school known locally as the Dick Vet. Or it was. Now it’s an arts venue called Summerhall. With a pub in the middle of it. Called The Royal Dick. And Pickering’s is next door. Edinburgh’s first gin distillery in over 150 years. Where they produce small batches of hand crafted, beautifully balanced, marvellously mixed Pickering’s Gin.
Where did it all start?
Pickering’s gin is based on an original Bombay recipe, handwritten on a fragment of paper dated 17 July 1947. Kept as a family secret for over 66 years, it only resurfaced in 2013 when Matt and Marcus began distilling at Summerhall.
Pickering’s have now fine-tuned the recipe, perfecting its balance of botanicals and tweaking it to the contemporary palate. The result is a spectacularly smooth, refreshing and flavoursome gin.
ehat sets Pickering’s Gin apart?
One of the main strengths of Pickering’s Gin is its taste – you can really taste the layers of the 9 botanicals used. Their gin is all about the flavour and quality and they ensure that they use the best possible ingredients to produce the best quality gin.
The Perfect Pickering’s Pour:

- 50ml (double measure) Pickering’s Gin
