We sent along guest contributor Kate Bright to go all healthy for us (as our burger and fried chicken diet put us out of this league)…
It’s an exciting event opening a new organic supermarket. Fortunately, I had the chance to go to the opening of AboutLife in Port Melbourne. I took my sister-in-law Anne, who is a big foodie and an amazing chef, and I myself am learning about healthy new ways of preparing food.
This night, we were privy to “cooking” demonstrations, and taste tests.
We arrived a few minutes early, and the weren’t quite ready to receive us, so we had a look at the shelves which were packed with produce, canned goods and all of the raw foods you would expect.
We were treated to Berry Sparkling Acai Punch which was delicious, as we were shown how to make raw (and vegan) foods. The Kale Pesto was my personal favourite. Absolutely delicious.
In our goodie bag, we received some of the pesto, nut hommus (delicious), raspberry chia jam (yum), a really beautiful body scrub made from coconut oil and coffee beans (I can’t tell you great that smells!) which leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated, raw cacao chai (which I haven’t tried yet, to be honest) and a raw caramel slice.
