Christmas is upon us! Well, not really, but for all those planning their staff Christmas parties it well and truly is. The better venues book out fast and now is the time to get planning! Here is a list of 5 quirky staff Christmas party venues in Melbourne for those groups of employees that enjoy celebrations a little left of centre.

  1. Strike Escape Rooms

Strike Escape Rooms

These Escape Rooms are new to Melbourne’s QV. They use state of the art sound and visual affects to simulate an ‘escape’ scenario. Each team enters a room and must follow a series of clues, work together and find out how to ‘escape’ the hypothetical situation (that feels strangely real). Each session runs for 50 minutes and is a great way to build a staff team and get people working together and interacting.

  1. RACV billiards rooms and bar

The RACV City Club is a well know place for conferencing events situated in the middle of the CBD. It’s a ‘members only’ deal if you are visiting casually but to book events you don’t have to be a member, you just have to be willing to pay a particular price. The City Club has world championship standard billiards tables in their poolroom and bar. There is about 6 tables and the room can be hired out for private catered events. It’s small enough to feel intimate and something a little different.

  1. Flagstaff gardens (BBQ and Frisbee)

Flagstaff gardens

For something with a smaller price tag the Flasgstaff gardens are perfect. They have public BBQ areas and the Vic markets are situated a stone’s throw away so all ingredients and elements for the perfect BBQ are easily accessible and do not need to be purchased in advance. They aren’t the largest gardens in Melbourne but they are very accessible via public transport and have a big enough grassy area for a game of Frisbee. They do get busy on the weekends so make sure to get down early for a good spot and leave it as you found it!

  1. Karaoke

Karaoke is fun with the right group. There are a select few karaoke bars in Melbourne, namely in China Town that have private booths that can be catered and waited for. Karaoke is a great way to relax in an environment completely different to a workplace and will make for some great ‘remember when’ moments.

  1. Booze cruise on the Yarra

Booze cruise on the Yarra

For something laid back yet different, this is the way to go. Take a boat down the Yarra with your colleges, have a few drinks, relax and take in the scenery. It’s hard for much to go wrong as long as the weather stays in check. Perhaps follow the cruise with some drinks or a meal on Southbank.

So if you are planning your Christmas party this year and are looking for something a little bit different perhaps consider looking into these places. But get in quick before they book out!
